Quick and Easy EFT

I think it is pretty safe to say that we all want freedom from the emotions and trauma of our past. We'd love to drop all the baggage holding us back and move into our best life. Fortunately, even though it may not be easy, it is definitely possible.

There are many types of energy work that can help free you from your past. I've written before about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and how much I love it. EFT essentially releases energy from old situations, emotions, and beliefs that are keeping you stuck. In some ways it is a simple process but, applied well, it can have a deep impact on your ability to clear old energy and heal old wounds. I rarely get through a coaching session without using EFT in some way, and I still use it on myself regularly. EFT is excellent for digging into complicated feelings, memories, and mental blocks. By using the EFT process while talking through your old stuff, it can release a lot of energy from your body and mind.

There are times, though, when learning and/or doing the full EFT process can feel overwhelming. Maybe you don’t have time. Maybe you don’t know what to say. Maybe you feel overwhelmed and trying to verbalize what is going on is just too much.

That’s OK. I’ve been there. I get it. Sometimes you just feel stuck and simply don’t know what to say about it.

The good news is that you can work with that kind of general stuck energy too. You don’t always need to know exactly what is making you stressed or anxious. Sometimes you can just feel into that mess of energy and, without analyzing it, just let it go. In EFT we can do this with the Gamut 9 Process, which is a little different from the standard EFT procedure. The Gamut 9 Process is quick and easy to learn. Once you know how to do it, it takes about a minute to complete the whole thing.

The value of the Gamut 9 Process is that it can be used on the fly (because it’s so fast) and because you don’t have to carefully articulate what you are feeling. This is not what you need if you are trying to work through a painful event from your past that has a lot of pieces to it. This is used as a quick and easy way to tackle feelings that are hard to define. For example, you might use this for:

  • General anxiety.

  • Overwhelm.

  • Those times when something (you aren’t sure what) is bothering you.

  • You’ve talked about an issue for hours and still can’t make any headway.

  • When your body is responding to something, but you aren’t sure what it is.

  • Places where you just feel stuck in your life.

  • Those little things that you just can’t seem to forget or get past.

  • When you just feel completely unmotivated, and you can’t get moving again.

These types of situations are perfect for the Gamut 9 Process. When you can’t quite define what is wrong, you don’t have to articulate anything. You just have to feel it and use the process to begin releasing it.

I learned this process many years ago but never practiced it much. Recently I came across it again and I’ve been trying it on all kinds of emotions, feelings, and physical sensations that I can’t easily describe or analyze. The energy release with the process is subtle, but definitely there.

Here’s one way I’ve used it recently: I’ve had trouble for years with getting out of bed in the morning. My lower legs and feet usually hurt. My whole body feels like lead. My eyes just can’t stay open. Once I can peel myself off the mattress, I’m usually OK. That half hour before I can convince my body to move, though? Pure misery. I’ve worked on this in every possible way and the severity of the problem comes and goes. This morning I woke up to find it had definitely come. I was probably in bed for 45 minutes being miserable before I thought of trying the Gamut process. I simply felt all the heaviness in my body, completed the 1-minute process, and asked my body to let go of whatever it was making me feel stuck. I felt the subtle energy release and within 4 minutes I was ready to get up and start my day. I have no idea what was released or why that worked when so much else has not, but it definitely helped. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow morning. I may have to try it for a number of days in a row to create consistent change in the long term, but it’s worth giving one minute of my morning to try and make some headway on this long-standing issue.

Energy work can be complicated and sometimes one tool works to heal a problem when others have not. This process is so simple and easy, it’s definitely worth learning and trying when you feel stuck.

I have recorded a 5-minute video to teach you the Gamut 9 Process and show you how to use it. It’s a great option to have in your toolbox when you need to try something different.

As I mentioned, I’ve seen this process before, but most recently I read it again on Gary Craig’s website. You can read his explanation here (you’ll have to scroll down a bit to find it).

Give it a try and see how it goes and then email me your experiences! I’d love to hear how you have used it and what you noticed!
